Welcome

Eidetic Union is the web presence and distribution node for the London-based improv-folk-noise-drone-jazz group, The Eidetic Band. Twinned with the nemesis of the brain, the Union is here to present the band, the band is here to bring you sound, sound is here to bring you now...

We will in future days bring other groups, projects, works onto the Union. For now:

Fig. 59.—The Captive Imp.The Eidetic Band

Aiming to make alive and fully realised experiences with and through sound.

John Brown: double bass, electric bass, cello, tone generator, bassoon, horns, reeds, percussion, zither, vocals

Rob Mullender: Laptop, acoustic guitar, banjo, teak butt plug, horns, reeds, flutes, percussion, toys, devices and constructions, power tools, vocals

A Rees: electric guitar, small keyboards of the world unite, saxophone, Dictaphones, percussophones, vocals

There is no one unifying theory behind The Eidetic Band, what is unifying is the desire to play to create. Numerous ideas and concepts burrow through, around and under each other, flight paths intersect... and these intersections take us to the places where new objects and experiences might be found (where sound is becoming). Fuelled by the knowledge that musicians can explore different forms, find different expressive spaces, different musical modes, can occupy them, mutate them, create new instances within, across and outside them... and then move on...

Music as exploration, rhythms of the human within a hive of sonorous and resonant materials...
